  • The Bordeaux Crus Classés, also known as the Bordeaux Classification of 1855, is a classification system for wines from the Bordeaux region of France. The classification was created for the Exposition Universelle de Paris (Universal Exposition) in 1855 and has remained largely unchanged since then. The wines are ranked into five tiers, or "growths," based on their reputation and quality at the time of the classification.
