About us

Keeper's Cut Meadery is a family-owned business making traditional and flavored mead from our production facility, tasting room, and event space in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We currently have the largest mead tasting room in North Carolina. 

Our 3,200sf Mead Hall is also available for weddings, receptions, showers, parties, meetings, as an audio and video recording space, and more, seven days a week. Contact us for more information and to schedule a walk-through.

History

Keeper's Cut Meadery began commercially producing mead in 2016. We purchased our current location in 2017 and spent 28 months renovating the building and grounds in order to provide a beautiful space for our guests to enjoy. We transferred our production to our current home and opened our tasting room to the public in May 2019.

Vineyard & Terroir

We keep approximately 2 dozen beehives to contribute honey to our meads.

Winemaking & Aging

Keeper's Cut makes traditional meads as well as melomels, cysers, metheglins, bochets, and other styles of mead. We also occasionally make cider and wine. Most fermentation has been done in stainless steel, although we have recently begun barrel fermenting. Aging is done in stainless steel, bottle, or barrel. 

At The Winery

We are open to the public Wednesday-Sunday in lovely downtown Marion, in the Depot Historic District, and feature a tasting bar with indoor seating as well as a dog-friendly patio. In addition to our wine-style and draft meads, we serve mead cocktails, charcuterie and cheese boards, desserts, snacks and soft drinks. You are also welcome to bring in your own food to enjoy here at Keeper's Cut, or order in from a local restaurant.  

We are family-friendly, with a relaxed atmosphere enjoyable for all ages. Older children and adults enjoy connecting over a game of checkers, chess, cards, backgammon, or mancala on the beautiful antique game tables in our Fountain Room. We also offer educational 'Bee to Bottle' tours.

While you are here, be sure to try some honey made by the Keeper’s Cut bees, or take along a box of our family’s gourmet chocolates to pair with your favorite meads.
