About us

Clairault Streicker are a family of premium wines, crafted from our privately-owned vineyards in the Margaret River Wine Appellation of Western Australia.

Since 1976 we have grown from a modest four-hectare estate to just under 200 hectares of premium Margaret River vineyards.

Our continuous commitment to quality vineyard management and sound ecological practices, combined with our unparalleled geographic advantages have led to a catalogue of exceptional wines.

History

Clairault has been at the forefront of winemaking in the Margaret River region since 1976, when Ani and Ian Lewis established their first four hectares of vines. Over the next two decades, they developed and expanded the property to over 45 hectares under vine.

When the stewardship of Clairault passed from the Lewis family to the Martin family, a new phase of development led to the spectacular Caves Road entrance, the introduction of low-intervention, biological farming practices, and an upgrade of the winemaking and the restaurant facilities.

When Clairault became a part of the Streicker portfolio in 2012, the enhancements to the property continued. Significant vineyard management changes were made to improve the quality of the fruit, climate controlled warehouse space was added, and the restaurant was redesigned as a café with a more contemporary farm-to-table menu.

Vineyard & Terroir

At Clairault Streicker we believe that winemaking begins in the vineyard. With abundant water catchments, beautiful undulating landscapes, naturally biodiverse bushland, and soil that is exceptionally suited to premium viticultural use, our vineyards are well-situated to produce fruit of uncommon quality.

With vineyards in three Margaret River sub-regions -Yallingup, Wilyabrup, and Karridale, Clairault and Streicker Wines have the capacity to make the most of Margaret River's diverse growing conditions.

The cooler climate and longer growing season at our Bridgeland Block, near Rosa Glen, produces some of the region's best aromatic whites and is home to the trophy winning cold-climate Streicker Syrah.

In Wilyabrup, our Ironstone Block of old vines produces outstanding single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay while further to the North, the original Clairault Vineyards –with vines planted as early as 1976 –add other components of varietal and soil conditions choices to our portfolio.
